Company Details

DHL is the biggest logistics company in the world. If you need to get a parcel from Aberdeen to Zagreb or from Angora to Zambia, then DHL is one of the leading ways to move stuff around the world by land, sea and air.

The now-German company started out in the USA - with its first service in 1969 - shuttling documents between Hawaii and San Francisco. The company was launched with student loan money by founder Larry Hillblom who enlisted the help of fellow students and friends Robert Lynn and Adrian Dalsey. Taking the company name from all of the student’s initials, DHL was born - and a major story in the business world of logistics was underway.

The firm has since expanded rapidly in areas around the globe which often didn’t already have a similar service available to its citizens and business people. By the end of 2001, German firm Deutsche Post had bought enough shares in DHL to make it the majority shareholder.

DHL now works in over 200 countries and employs over 280 thousand people in full and part time jobs in almost every corner of the world.

But...what are the options for students and graduates at DHL?

Well, there are loads of options actually!
