Netto, the Danish supermarket chain, had a brief period of inactivity in the UK market between 2011 and 2014, but the firm is now back trading in Britain, and is providing tons of jobs for young people, predominantly in parts of northern England.

Netto started out life in Copenhagen, Denmark in 1981 and, after three decades of expansion to other countries like Poland, Germany and Sweden, now has around 7,000 employees at over 1,250 supermarket worldwide.

Netto started trading in the UK at Leeds in 1990, and, at its peak it had a chain of around 200 supermarkets across England and Wales. But, following a 2010 buyout by Asda, the Netto name disappeared temporarily from the UK scene. In 2014, Netto relaunched its UK business in a joint venture with Sainsbury’s which will see the chain adding 15 new supermarkets and reintroducing the brand to British shoppers in the north. Some of the locations where Netto are advertising job vacancies include Leeds, Manchester, Sheffield and Ormskirk.
