Argos to recruit Christmas temps British high street retailer Argos is to start its Christmas recruitment drive as at tries to fill positions at 700 stores in the UK and Ireland.

Argos aims to hire 15,000 part-time staff in the run up to the festive period as part of its Enjoy a Richer Christmas campaign.

Students working part-time to fund their studies might be interested to hear that the retailer is experiencing higher demand in some areas of the country when compared with the number of applications it received last year.

Argos's managing director Sara Weller said: "The run-up to Christmas is always an exciting trading period for us and creates a real buzz within our stores."

"It also provides a fantastic opportunity for those looking for temporary work over the Christmas period to benefit from really flexible working opportunities in stores right across the country," she added.

In related news, more than half of British students are being helped to fund their studies by a family member, reports the Press Association.

According to the news provider, 58 per cent of students have received financial help from their parents or grandparents.
