Outsourcing 'will grow in recession'

14 Aug 2008

Outsourcing 'will grow in recession' IT students who are working one-year internships in the sector could be interested to hear one HR chief predict outsourcing will grow if the UK enters a recession, it has been reported.

Barry Hoffman, director of HR for Computacenter, believes IT outsourcing could boom as employers may increasingly look to third-party providers in order to cut costs.

He told the website: "The IT outsourcing market will grow. In an economic downturn, people look to outsourcers to cut costs and add value. We innovate with our clients to add value for them".

The situation still challenges outsourcers and they cannot take their eye off the ball, he added.

Overall though, Mr Hoffman believes outsourcing and infrastructure firms are in a good position to cope with the economic downturn.

Meanwhile, in other news it was reported by the Doncaster Star earlier in the month that two catering interns impressed bosses at the Ritz after dazzling them with their culinary skills while on placement.

Alberto Salas and David Webb, who both study BTEC Hospitality and Catering at Doncaster College, were described as "two of the best" by bosses at the fancy eatery/hotel.
