17 Jan 2008

New guide for information security jobs Students who are looking to go into graduate jobs in IT after university may be interested to know that a new guide has been published which gives guidance on how companies should find staff for the information security industry.

The guide, which is free, is being published by (ISC)2 and gives companies tips on how to find, recruit and train up staff for the sector.

Eddie Zeitler, executive director for (ISC)2, said: "Hiring first-rate information security staff is critical to mitigating risks that can destroy a company's reputation, violate privacy, result in the theft or destruction of intellectual property, and even endanger lives."

He added that the company hopes that this guide helps human resource professionals, recruiters and hiring managers better understand the "scope of this burgeoning profession and lessen the pain of obtaining the best and brightest information security staff".

In the guide there is information such as the ideal candidate traits and the history of the information security profession and how it has grown over the last decade. There are also tips on interviewing, screening and retaining employees.

(ISC)2 is an organisation which certifies information security professionals throughout their careers. It was founded in 1989 and has certified over 50,000 information security personnel in more than 120 countries.
