Online and print best way to advertise

27 Nov 2007

Online and print best way to advertise Companies looking to recruit graduates and other employees get the best results when they use online and newspaper advertising campaigns together, according to a report.

The research, carried out by Telegraph Media Group (TMG), shows that newspaper advertisements create awareness of jobs that are available through online recruitment, reports onrec.com.

Alex Foster, classified sales director at TMG, said: "Newspapers still play a crucial role in recruitment advertising on a number of levels. On a practical level our research shows the papers do the job of creating awareness and driving people to find out more online."

Mr Foster added that it is online where "people research the jobs on offer".

According to the study, passive job seekers are becoming increasingly important to recruiters and recruiters have the advantage of being able to know where to advertise jobs in newspapers as they know where job hunters will look.

Job adverts in newspapers can now be more creative, according to Mr Foster. He said newspapers can attract attention while the small print is left to "the online version of the campaign".

Meanwhile, graduates have been told that a career in MI6 will not offer them a chance to live like James Bond.

Speaking to the BBC to try and persuade people from ethnic backgrounds to look at its online recruitment, MI6 agents also denied that their work is similar to BBC drama Spooks.
