Graduates find jobs online

10 Oct 2007

Graduates find jobs online Four in every five students and graduates looking for a job use recruitment websites in their hunt.

According to new research by graduate careers advisors, Milkround.com, most young people look online as they consider it the best way of finding the top jobs.

It revealed that while 77 per cent of students and graduates look on a company's own website, 83 per cent use recruitment websites.

Otherwise, 61 per cent went to careers fairs and 50 per cent looked in national newspapers in the search for employment.

Mike Barnard, a spokesman for Milkround.com, told onrec.com: "With so much of a student's time at university, and life in general, based around the internet, young people are very likely to use it for finding work."

The poll found that 37 per of respondents rated recruitment sites as the most effective media compared to 19 per cent citing company websites as the superior place to find a job.

News of young jobseekers favouring online recruitment companies to look for positions comes as PricewaterhouseCoopers reveal in a poll that seven per cent of graduates in the UK think they would have flexible working hours, compared to 18 per cent in China.
