New M&S depot to create thousands of jobs A new Marks and Spencer distribution centre in Bradford will create thousands of jobs, according to a report from the Yorkshire Post newspaper.

Students hoping to work in Yorkshire may be interested to discover that the new project, expected to open in 2010, will bring 2,500 jobs to the area.

A further estimated 1,000 jobs will be created as part of plans for the building of an additional selection of business units on site.

The construction will take place near the M606 on the site of the former West Bowling Golf Club off Rooley Lane.

Tom Riordon, chief executive of Yorkshire Forward, told the newspaper: "To have a company like Marks and Spencer invest in our region would be a fantastic addition to our regional economy, creating a significant number of jobs and reaffirming the region's reputation as a logistics hub."

Bradford council member, Kris Hopkins, also commented that "a large number" of employment opportunities would be created as a result of the proposed centre.

Marks and Spencer will be holding a series of graduate events at university recruitment fairs around the country in October and November.

The company's training scheme is largely designed as a fast-track way of getting managerial roles in the company's many retail outlets.

The Marks and Spencer will exhibit at Leeds University fair will take place on October 15th.
