As the demand for reliable train services continues to rise, Northern Rail is embarking on an ambitious recruitment campaign, aiming to fill dozens of engineering positions across the North of England.

Vacancies are on offer at three Northern Rail’s TrainCare Centres located in:

- Leeds: Neville Hill TrainCare Centre offers roles with salaries starting at £49,879.

- Liverpool: Allerton TrainCare Centre has openings with initial salaries of £37,740, increasing to £50,320 upon completion of training.

- Manchester: Newton Heath TrainCare Centre seeks maintenance engineers with a starting salary of £49,681.

These roles not only offer competitive salaries but also the chance to work in a dynamic environment.

To be eligible for these new vacancies at Northern Rail, you will need to be at least 18 years old and live within a 45 minute commute of your nearest depot.

Announcing the recruitment drive, Northern’s Managing Director, Tricia Williams, said: “We are recruiting talented engineers who can help us keep our fleet of trains running smoothly all year round for tens of millions of passengers.”

“We are looking for people who can solve problems and carry out maintenance and repairs in a fast-paced environment, while working as part of a team and adhering to strict safety regulations,” added the MD.

Rebecca Prendergast, a senior production manager based at Northern Rail’s Newton Heath depot, has also urged women to consider careers in engineering, describing them as “incredibly rewarding.”

This recruitment drive not only highlights the growing opportunities within the engineering sector but also underscores Northern Rail's commitment to maintaining high standards of service across its operations.
