German retailer Aldi has announced plans to create 1,000 new supermarket jobs in the UK this year.
The chain has pledged to open at least one new store (on average) each week for the rest of 2024 and will create around 45 vacancies with each launch.
A variety of roles will be on offer at Aldi, with some apprenticeships also up for grabs before the start of 2025.
Just some of the vacancies at the UK’s fourth biggest supermarket throughout the year will include store assistants, cleaners, caretakers and managerial positions.
Depending on location, Store Assistants at Aldi can earn up to £13.95 per hour. In the next few weeks alone, Aldi will open multiple new supermarkets in English towns and cities including London, Leeds, Milton Keynes, Plymouth as well as Dundee in Scotland and Aberdare in Wales.
Launching the hunt for hundreds of new staff, Aldi UK’s director of recruitment, Kelly Stokes, said:
“As we continue to open in new areas, we're looking to welcome hundreds more colleagues to our amazing teams across the country. We want even more people to be a part of our success in the future, which is why we offer a great working environment and opportunities to progress within the business.”
“In May, Aldi announced its second pay increase for store colleagues this year, taking the supermarket’s investment in pay this year to £79m,” added Ms Stokes.
Aldi now provides full and part time jobs for over 45,000 people in the UK at their 1,000+ stores, warehouses and offices.
