Ocean King, a food wholesaler and distributor, is creating 150 new full and part time jobs in Derby.

The Loughborough-based firm is set to open new operations at a 2,600 square metre distribution hub at Victory Park in a move which will create dozens of jobs for students and locals in the area.

The company is investing £5 million in the new Derby unit which is anticipated to be ready by December this year.

Ocean King, which supplies fresh and frozen food to the restaurant sector, started off from pretty basic beginnings as a ‘man and van’ enterprise towards the end of the 1990s.

Kicking off the recruitment drive for new staff in Derby, Steven Thai, Ocean King’s managing director, said: “This move will open up 150 jobs for the people of Derby. We will be employing a full team ranging from senior leaders to forklift drivers and HGV drivers.”
