DHL To Create 4,000 New Full & Part Time Jobs In The UK

German logistics specialist DHL has announced expansion plans which will see the firm create over 4,000 new full and part time jobs in the United Kingdom.

Amidst a surge in online shopping since the start of the pandemic DHL is investing over £480 million to increase the floor space of 20 of its existing depots, along with creating 10 new ones.

The expansion plan will see the delivery firm create around 4,100 warehouse jobs, driving vacancies and admin roles at its collection and delivery depots across the UK.

One of the biggest single investments by DHL will be a new 270,000 square foot distribution hub in Coventry. Almost half of the total £482 million will be spent at the site, creating over 600 jobs in Coventry alone.

Since the start of the pandemic, DHL has seen its e-commerce business grow by over 40 per cent, making it essential for them to create more warehouse space across its UK sites.

Commenting on the expansion plans at his firm, the Chief Executive Officer of DHL Parcel UK, Peter Fuller, said: “E-commerce will continue to shape the world around us. This investment, and our leading approach to digitalisation and sustainability, will put us in a strong position to take advantage of market growth.”

Gerry Grimstone, the minister for investment, also commented, saying: “With investment comes jobs and a boost to local economies, so I look forward to seeing the Midlands continue to flourish and promoting our commitment for a cleaner and greener future.”
