Selco Builders Warehouse, a builders’ merchant chain, has announced expansion plans which will create over 1,000 new full and part time jobs in the UK.

The company, which also offers an apprenticeship scheme, is expanding its portfolio of outlets from just over 70 to around 100 on the back of increasing demand.

Each new Selco Builders Warehouse branch will create around 30 jobs and apprenticeships, and there will also be vacancies to be advertised at the firm’s support centre in Birmingham.

Selco has already expanded rapidly, doubling its number of outlets in the last 10 years, but the latest recruitment drive will see the chain create an average of around 250 jobs per year for the next four years.

After recent launches in Canning Town, Exeter, Liverpool, Orpington and Rochester, Selco is set to open new branches in Cheltenham and Peterborough in the near future.

Announcing the expansion plans at his company, Howard Luft, Selco’s Chief Executive Officer, said: “This is an exciting time for all connected with Selco and the latest plans for expansion will have economic benefits right across the UK.

“We currently have a very strong branch presence across London, Manchester and Birmingham. And, as well as further bolstering those heartlands and other areas of the country where we have branches, we will also be taking the unique Selco offering into new towns and cities.”
