The Big Table Group have announced plans to create 1,250 full or part time restaurant jobs across the UK.

The Group is the name behind restaurant chains such as Bella Italia, Cafe Rouge and Las Iguanas.

The firm says that it is to open 50 new restaurants before the end of 2024 and will create an average of 25 vacancies with each launch. The Group will also be renovating around 70 of its existing restaurants over the same period.

35 of the new restaurants will be branches of the Latin American themed Las Iguanas dining chain, creating around 1,000 of the new jobs.

The expansion and renovations will cost an investment in excess of £50 million, and once complete, The Big Table Group will boast around 200 restaurants across the UK.

Announcing the expansion plans and recruitment drive, the Chief Executive Officer of The Big Table Group, Alan Morgan, said: “Las Iguanas has consistently proven to be an extremely popular choice with consumers, and now is the perfect time to grow the brand across the country, targeting high footfall locations in major towns and city centres.”

The managing partner of Epiris, parent company of The Big Table Group, Alex Fortescue, also commented, saying: “We are excited about the growth prospects of The Big Table. With strong recovery in the sector, we are ready to fund additional pipeline opportunities and look forward to expanding our brands.”

“Given that we are probably the best capitalised restaurant group in the UK, we represent a compelling partner for landlords,” added Mr Fortescue.
