Catching Up With Hospitality Apprenticeships Week 2021

This week (18th-22nd October) is Hospitality Apprenticeships Week 2021.

UKHospitality, the UK’s leading hospitality trade association is using this week to cast a spotlight on the diverse and exciting careers within the sector. It is also encouraging young people to enter the industry via the wide range of hospitality apprenticeships on offer.

The Hospitality Apprenticeships Week hopes to attract young people aged 16 to 24 into the sector and is using the hashtag ‘#MoreThanAJob to get their message across on social media.

Announcing the event, the Hospitality Apprenticeships Week 2021 website says:

“We are delighted to launch Hospitality Apprenticeships Week 2021 taking place between 18th and 22nd October 2021. This year’s event provides a fresh opportunity to celebrate apprenticeships in the sector and bring the whole hospitality community together to showcase the unique and diverse career pathways that our fantastic and exciting sector offers.”

“An apprenticeship can lead to a meaningful and exciting career in this fast paced and rewarding environment and completing an apprenticeship will give you a job with training, meaning you can earn while you learn and gain a nationally-recognised qualification.”

Expanding on the aims of the initiative, Kate Nicholls, the chief executive of UKHospitality said: “Hospitality Apprenticeship Week is a fantastic way for people to learn about the wide range of roles in the sector, at a time when there are many opportunities to join our post-Covid renaissance.”

“Hospitality has embraced apprenticeships as a gateway into roles as well as for upskilling its existing workforce. Anyone looking for a new job or a change of career would do well to take a look at what the sector has to offer.”

“After the past 18 months, building and training our workforce will be key to the recovery. We are committed to future-proofing the sector by supporting campaigns such as this and working closely with Government to deliver the jobs recovery the economy needs,” added Ms Nicholls.

Paul Scully MP, the hospitality minister, also commented, saying: “Through our Hospitality Strategy, the Government is working hand-in-hand with the sector to help it make the most of its creative and innovative spirit as it builds back better from the pandemic.”

“A hospitality apprenticeship can be the golden ticket to a great career. Hospitality Apprenticeships Week is the perfect time for both new and existing workers to explore all the opportunities the sector has to offer, and for businesses to explore all that an apprenticeship programme can do for them,” said Mr Scully.
