Construction Manufacturer JCB Creating 500 More New Jobs In The UK

Construction equipment manufacturer JCB is creating 500 more new full or part time jobs in the UK.

The firm needs hundreds of new staff due to demand for its products returning as the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic subside.

Although we don’t know how many vacancies will be available in various UK locations at the time of writing, JCB has bases at 11 facilities in Derbyshire, Staffordshire and Wrexham.

The company, based in Staffordshire, already announced 450 new shop floor vacancies earlier this year - and has posted a total 850 new opportunities so far in 2021 - but is keeping its foot on the pedal with another round of hiring.

In addition, JCB has also said it is converting a further 300 staff from agency contracts to permanent roles within its own company after already in-housing 700 agency workers so far in 2021.

JCB shop floor staff can look forward to hourly pay of over £11 per hour, along with other benefits such as 30+ days holiday, insurance and training.

At the outbreak of the Coronavirus outbreak, JCB said that demand for their machinery ‘disappeared overnight’.

However, with the continued relaxation of restrictions the company is recovering strongly and forecasts that, in addition to renewed demand from UK businesses, the European and North American markets will also fuel future growth.

Commenting on the new recruitment boost at JCB, Graeme Macdonald, the firm’s Chief Executive Officer said: “The recovery continues to gather momentum and we have tens of thousands of new machine orders sitting on our books stretching well into next year. We have never seen anything like this in the 75-year history of JCB.”

“As well as earning a competitive salary with the opportunity for overtime and enhanced shift allowances, there is great potential for new recruits to progress to permanent roles with JCB,” added Mr Macdonald.
