Amazon is creating over 130 new full or part time jobs in Essex with the opening of a new delivery centre in the Harlow area of the county.

Due to open this summer, the new 75,000 square foot Harlow facility will create around 30 permanent roles and a further 100+ delivery positions.

Amazon facility centres are smaller and more local than their ‘fulfilment centres’ and are the last place where your purchases stop before they are delivered to your doorstep.

Pay rates for the Essex jobs start at £9.70 per hour and a variety of roles will be on offer at the Harlow base.

Some of the delivery roles are with Amazon Flex, where you can use your own vehicle and the company’s smartphone app to find and drop off deliveries, earning up to £15 an hour on a flexible basis.

Announcing the recruitment drive in Essex, Amazon Logistics’ Country Director, Kerry-Anne Lawlor, said: “We are excited to invest in the Harlow area with a new delivery station that will provide efficient delivery for customers and create new jobs for the talented workforce.”

Robert Halfon, Member of Parliament for Harlow, welcomed the announcement from Amazon, saying: “This is fantastic news for our town and is just another example showing that Harlow is open for business. The past year has been a very difficult time for our community and many residents have lost their jobs, which is why these hundreds of new job opportunities are even more welcome.”

“We are building an even better Harlow with thousands of new jobs and apprenticeships opportunities, our Enterprise Zone, the £81 million new Junction 7a, new hospital, the up to £76 million to regenerate the town centre and now this new major jobs boost.,” added Mr Halfon.
