JCB has announced plans to create 450 new shop floor jobs in the UK as the construction sector starts to blossom in spite of the ongoing pandemic.

The machinery firm has also said it will be converting a further 400 existing shop floor workers from contract status to permanent roles later this year.

The Staffordshire based company has seemingly weathered the storm of the Coronavirus outbreak and is now taking on new staff after seeing renewed demand for its products and services from regions including North America and Europe.

The 450 new full and part time jobs at JCB will be based at their facilities in Derbyshire, Staffordshire and Wrexham.

Roles on offer - both either new members of staff and existing agency staff - include assembly staff, CNC (computer numerical controlled) machinists, fabricators, fork lift truck drivers and welders

Any agency workers who have been with JCB for more than one year are also set to receive more job security now that the company has pledged to convert them into permanent members of staff before the end of 2021.

Announcing the new vacancies within his company, Mark Turner, the Chief Operating Officer for JCB, said: “The rebound following the Covid-19 pandemic continues to gather pace and even in the space of a month since we started recruiting, we now need a further 450 shop floor employees.”

“The creation of a total of 850 jobs this year is very good news for our business and for the areas where we operate. It's also great news that this year we will give permanent JCB contracts to more than 700 agency employees, starting this month,” added Mr Turner.
