The new St Modwen Park development is set to create around 400 new full and part time warehouse jobs in Gloucester.
St Modwen Park Gloucester, currently being developed in the Quedgeley area, close to Junction 12 of the M5, is to feature five warehouses which could each create an average of 80 jobs across floor space totalling almost 28,000 square metres..
Footwear specialist Gardiner Brothers & Co, based in Gloucester for over a century and a half, has already signed up for one of the units on the new business park and will be advertising 50 warehouse vacancies at the site.
The other four units are expected to complete before the end of the year and together have the capacity for a further 350 staff to work full or part time in the warehouses.
Announcing their future presence at St Modwen Park, Gardiner Brothers & Co’s chief executive officer, James Gardiner, said: “The scheme is so well located, which will naturally bring many benefits to us as a company, particularly with the direct motorway access. We eagerly await the completion of the unit and look forward to growing our business here.”
Welcoming the announcement by Gardiner Brothers & Co, Adrian Rowley, a partner at Alder King Property Consultants and DTRE, which is a joint agent at the development, said: “Gardiner Brothers’ decision to move to St Modwen Park Gloucester illustrates the need for new, high-specification industrial space across all sizes in the region and further justifies the decision to continue the speculative development of units at the scheme.”
Director of development at St Modwen Logistics, Peter Davies, also commented, saying: “St Modwen Park Gloucester is a prime site for logistics businesses in the region, significantly boosting the local economy with new employment opportunities.”
