KPMG Creating 200 Belfast Jobs For Graduates & Experienced Staff

Professional services firm KPMG has announced plans to create 200 new jobs in Belfast, with many of the vacancies set to be earmarked for graduates.

KPMG is to launch a new ‘Centre of Excellence’ in the capital of Northern Ireland and new roles on offer will include vacancies within the company’s applied intelligence, cyber security and digital transformation services.

The Centre of Excellence will be based at KPMG’s headquarter offices in Belfast’s Lanyon Place.

The recruitment drive has been facilitated by funding of £1 million from Invest NI and £1.3 million from the Department for the Economy. KPMG are themselves investing a further £12 million in the initiative.

4 in 5 of the 200 new Belfast vacancies will be targeted towards graduates via the Assured Skills Training Programme which KPMG has developed in partnership with Belfast Met.

Welcoming the announcement from KPMG, Diane Dodds, the Economy Minister for Northern Ireland, said: “This new investment will see [KPMG] almost double its workforce in Northern Ireland. Of the new roles, 160 will participate in my Department’s pre-employment Assured Skills training programme, which will offer the company a pipeline of skilled graduates over the next three years.”

“We will run eight Assured Skills Academies with Belfast Met over the next three years, and the first one is open for applications now,” added Ms Dodds.

Partner in Charge of KPMG for Northern Ireland, Johnny Hanna, also commented, saying:. “The creation of the new Centre of Excellence is the next step in the evolution of KPMG in Northern Ireland. We have continually grown the firm to meet the ever-changing demands of our clients and the addition of this digital centre adds an exciting offering, which will have global reach.”

“The case for building the team here was made easy by the depth of talent on offer in the digital technology space and the assistance of Invest NI. This investment cements our commitment to NI and we look forward to establishing a world-class team,” added Mr Hanna.

Belfast Met’s Principal and Chief Executive, Louise Warde Hunter, said: “This is a significant investment in future skills. Belfast Met is pleased to be working on this new series of academies with KPMG and DfE, and we look forward to welcoming our first cohort of learners. Through this programme, participants will receive the most up-to-date, industry-relevant training in this growing sector, giving learners vital opportunities to gain employment after completing the course.”
