Logistics Hub Set To Create Almost 1,300 Jobs In Lancashire

A new logistics hub in Farington is set to create almost 1,300 temporary, permanent and part time jobs in Lancashire.

The site, to cover 57,000 square metres of land next to the Lancashire Business Park, will feature logistics and industrial facilities, and will create hundreds of jobs for the county.

The construction phase by developers Caddick Developments is expected to see around 280 temporary vacancies advertised, while a further 1,000+ permanent jobs will be created at the hub once it is ready for action.

In addition, the developers say that the project will also create 460 more jobs in the supply chain which the logistics and industrial facility will generate.

South Ribble Borough Council gave the plans the go ahead last week, hoping that the facility will be a major economic win for the North West county.

Some of the vacancies on offer at the Farington logistics hub will include warehouse positions and driving jobs which should be suitable for students looking for part time work in the region.

Announcing the jobs bonanza for the county, Caddick Developments’ North West Director, Steve Widdowson, said: “We’re delighted to have received initial approval to bring forward this crucial project, which will contribute to the economic recovery of the region from the Covid-19 pandemic, through the creation of hundreds of local jobs.”

“This landmark project offers an attractive proposition to businesses looking to establish themselves in the North West, with excellent access to Central Lancashire, Greater Manchester and Merseyside.”

“As well as being ideally located on the transport network, the scheme would offer flexible commercial space to suit businesses of all shapes and sizes. This site is very well placed to meet the continued demand for developments of this type, size, and location from occupiers looking to be on the M6 Corridor,” added Mr Wİddowson.

A spokesperson for the developer also added that both local and national businesses had already expressed interest in the logistics hub due to the site’s location and its ‘high specification design’.
