New Development To Create Nearly 1,000 Warehouse Jobs In Leicestershire

A new development is to create almost 1,000 warehouse jobs in Leicestershire after planning permission has been granted by the council.

The massive new warehouse complex, in the Ashby area of Leicester, will cost an investment of £30 million after North West Leicestershire District Council gave the project a green light last week.

To be named ‘G Park’, the 275,000 square metre warehouse development will also include other logistics and security facilities as well as office space.

The developers of G Park, Gazeley, estimate that between 880 and 990 full time vacancies will be created at the site, as well as a further 500 or so indirect jobs after the project is complete.

Announcing the approval of the plans for the G Park warehouse complex, the chair of North West Leicestershire District Council’s Planning Committee, Councillor Nigel Smith, said: “This was a difficult decision for the committee but on balance the opportunity to bring new jobs to North West Leicestershire on land already earmarked for employment provision proved decisive.”

“The last nine months have been very difficult nationally, but this development offers a real economic boost for our district and new jobs for local people in the coming years of recovery from Covid-19,” added Cllr Smith.

We’ll bring you further details of the warehouse vacancies which will be on offer at G Park as more information is released by the developers.
