Domino’s Pizza To Create 5,000 Jobs & 1,000 Work Placements For Young People

Domino’s Pizza has announced recruitment plans which will create 5,000 new full or part time jobs and a further 1,000 work placements for young people.

With more people ordering takeaways during the Coronavirus pandemic, Domino’s has already created 6,000 new jobs since the March outbreak in the UK.

The 6,000 new opportunities announced by Domino’s today are in addition to the 6,000 already created this year, doubling their hiring spree whilst other firms in the pizza industry are cutting back on staff.

The 5,000 jobs will consist of a mix of customer service roles, chefs and pizza delivery driver jobs.

A further 1,000 opportunities are being created for young people aged 16 to 24 as part of the UK government’s Kickstart scheme. The placements will last for six months and the new recruits will work for at least 25 hours per week and earn at least National Minimum Wage.

The company says that 'ambitious individuals' who complete a six month Kickstart placement will have the chance of a permanent role at Domino’s.

Offering a great incentive for young people to join their ranks via the Kickstart scheme, the pizza chain boasts that 4 in 5 of their store managers started out in entry level positions with Domino’s.

Launching the latest recruitment drive at the pizza chain, Domino’s chief executive officer, Dominic Paul, said: “It was a privilege to keep our stores open during Covid-19 and to now be in a position to offer thousands more people the opportunity to become a Domino’s team member.”

“We’re also delighted to support the government’s Kickstart scheme, offering young people the chance to get back into work and to build lifelong skills through our training programmes. Together, these 6,000+ new roles will help Domino’s continue to safely serve our local communities as we head towards the busy festive period,” added Mr Paul.

Once all of the new vacancies at Domino’s are filled, the company will employ more than 40,000 people in full and part time roles at its 1,000+ outlets throughout the UK and Ireland.
