Apprenticeship & Gap Year Job Searches Rise After A Level Results Fiasco

As thousands of A Level students face uncertainty about their future at university, searches for Apprenticeships saw a year-on-year increase of 148% on e4s.co.uk, a student-focused jobs site.

Ambulance paramedic apprenticeships are the most popular, followed by engineering, animal care and law. Entry level jobs also saw an increase in traffic, as did gap years and work from home opportunities, such as online tutoring, typing, paid surveys, user testing and freelancing.

“Student jobs have been hit hard by Coronavirus, with the huge impact on the retail and hospitality sectors,” says Chris Eccles, co-founder of Employment 4 Students, which was created in 2000 to help students earn money safely and flexibly with the introduction of tuition fees.

“But there are options for students who have missed out on their chosen courses this year. Degree Apprenticeships are a great way to earn while you learn, and there are many ways to develop your skills through a gap year, even with the travel restrictions in place.”
