Food delivery firm Gousto has announced expansion plans which will see the company create 1,000 new jobs in the UK after a surge in demand during the pandemic.

The 1,000 new full or part time jobs will be created over the course of the next two years and are an increase on the 700 vacancies which Gousto announced last October.

The eight year old company provides a range of weekly recipes which customers can choose from and then delivers the ingredients to their doors for them to make themselves.

Year on year online sales at Gousto have more than doubled over the last twelve months, with much of the growth attributed to changing eating habits during the COVID-19 outbreak.

Announcing a recruitment drive which will see his company’s headcount grow by more than 200 per cent before the end of 2022, Gousto’s founder and Chief Executive Officer, Timo Boldt, said:

“The UK recipe box market has come of age with the recent lockdown accelerating structural trends which were already firmly underway. We have maintained record sales, even with the progressive easing of lockdown restrictions and view this shift as part of a wider permanent redrawing of the grocery landscape.”
