2 Sisters Creates 300 Jobs For Young People In Lincolnshire & Devon

2 Sisters, a specialist food manufacturer, has created 300 new jobs for young people in Lincolnshire and Devon.

Most of the jobs, aimed at the 16 to 24 year old demographic, are based at the company’s factories in Scunthorpe, Lincolnshire and Wellend, Devon.

The 2 Sisters’ vacancies have been created in the wake of Chancellor Rishi Sunak’s ‘Kickstart’ scheme which is offering a total of £2 billion to UK businesses who can provide high-quality placements for young people in the COVID-19 era.

The placements at 2 Sisters are originally for a six month period but the company says that further opportunities could open up once the initial contract is finished.

Jobs on offer include everything from label checkers to team leaders and engineering staff to general operatives.

The company specialises in poultry, chilled and frozen food products and employs over 20,000 people in the UK, Ireland, Poland and the Netherlands.

Announcing the recruitment drive for young people, the founder and owner of the 2 Sisters Food Group, Ranjit Singh Boparan, said: “The Chancellor is right when he says the UK cannot afford a lost generation because of the coronavirus crisis. The fall-out of this crisis will hit vulnerable young workers harder than other age groups, so my business is well-positioned to help at our sites which have vacancies.”

2 Sisters’ clients include KFC, Marks & Spencer and big supermarket chains like Aldi, Asda, Co-op, Lidl, Morrison’s, Sainsbury’s, Tesco and Waitrose.

Holly Mumby-Croft, an MP in Scunthorpe, welcomed the announcement, saying: “I'm very pleased to see the Chancellor's job-creating plans taking effect so quickly in Scunthorpe. 2 Sisters' decision to open up a range of placements, including those in high-skilled and leadership positions, will provide great opportunities for young people in our area.”
