Interserve To Create 1,500 Jobs During Coronavirus Outbreak

Interserve, the construction and support services specialist, has announced plans to create 1,500 new jobs during the Coronavirus outbreak.

Interserve, in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, is hiring for essential workers in the hundreds across various UK locations.

Interserve is the firm which built the new 4,000-bed NHS Nightingale Hospital facility at Birmingham NEC and is recruiting right now for roles including cleaning and facilities management jobs.

A mix of temporary contracts and permanent positions are on offer and the vacancies will bring welcome opportunities to the many people who have so far lost their jobs in other sectors due to the Coronavirus crisis.

Two thirds (1,000) of the jobs are within Interserve’s Communities business unit which assists the NHS in London and other parts of the South East, as well as in Birmingham and Manchester.

The other 500 vacancies are at Interserve’s Healthcare operations with opportunities available in various locations nationwide.

Praising the company’s workforce, the managing director of Interserve’s support services, Lynn Mawdsley, said: “Our cleaners, porters, security, catering staff and maintenance colleagues play a crucial role in supporting and maintaining hospitals and critical infrastructure across the UK. Making sure that hospitals remain clean and provides the best possible environment for NHS staff and patients is always of paramount importance, but now more than ever quite simply the services our teams deliver are helping to save lives.”

“Interserve Healthcare is supporting the UK Government’s response to COVID-19 by providing critical care to people in their homes, thereby freeing up hospital space for people admitted due to coronavirus. I am immensely proud of all of our teams who are working in such challenging circumstances,” added Ms Mawdsley.
