Cera To Create 10,000 New Care Jobs In Wake Of Coronavirus

Cera, a leading provider of home care, has announced it is creating a massive 10,000 new care jobs in the UK in the wake of the Coronavirus outbreak.

Although the jobs are available to anyone, Cera, founded just four years ago, are urging people who have been made redundant due to the pandemic to apply for the vacancies it is advertising.

The company has an online training programme and new recruits can be ready to work as a home carer within just 10 days of starting the course.

Although wages for staff members vary based on experience, the company says that carers can earn up to £600 a week.

Cera currently employs around 2,000 members of staff in the care sector, but increased demand for home care following the Coronavirus outbreak is forcing them to launch a huge recruitment drive and boost their ranks by a whopping 500 per cent.

A majority of the new care jobs will be in London, but there will also be vacancies to be filled in Cumbria, Derbyshire, Essex, Kent, Lancashire, Norwich, Nottinghamshire, Peterborough, Staffordshire, Wiltshire and other parts of the UK.

Announcing the new jobs and giving further details of the roles on offer, Cera’s co-founder and chief executive, Dr Ben Maruthappu, said: “The vast majority of these new roles will be as front-line carers, of which there are two types. The first are professional carer roles, which include providing regulated home care, such as help with aspects of daily living including eating, drinking and medication.”

“The second are support carer roles, focused on providing assistance such as shopping and companionship. Both of these roles will be community based and will involve visiting people in their own homes. We also have a select number of office-based support roles, tasks include scheduling calls and visits for users and providing advice and leadership for our carers,” added Dr Maruthappu.
