COOK, a specialist in the frozen food sector, has announced expansion plans which will see the firm create around 200 new full or part time jobs in Kent.

COOK is expanding it kitchen facilities at the Eurolink industrial estate in Sittingbourne, creating 80 jobs initially with the potential for a further 120 positions before the end of 2024.

COOK has almost 100 of its own stores across the UK, and also trades from around 500 concessions. The 2,300 square metre expansion in Sittingbourne will allow it to increase production by over 60 per cent.

Explaining why they were looking to expand now, chief executive officer of COOK, Edward Perry, said: “Our existing kitchen facility is at full capacity, so we needed additional space to be able to achieve our plan of doubling our sales in five years. Our new site has given us total confidence that we will achieve our goal and, at the same time, allow us to continue to improve both our manufacturing process and products.”

“It will also enable us to recruit 80 new members of staff initially, with a view to grow to a total headcount of 200 new staff over the next three to four years,” added Mr Perry.

The expansion at COOK has been assisted by a £16 million cash injection from HSBC UK. The bank’s North London corporate banking area director, Dan Russell, also commented on the deal, saying “I'm confident that the company will use this as a platform for significant growth in the future and look forward to seeing what the team achieves. Our corporate banking team has worked closely with COOK to provide a flexible solution for their needs.”

COOK has featured on the Sunday Times Best 100 Companies To Work For list for each of the last eight years.
