Work At Wimbledon 2020 - Applications Now Open!

We may be right at the start of a new decade in January 2020 but applications to work at the Wimbledon Championships are already open!

Yes, that’s right! Although the famous tennis tournament doesn’t start until the end of June, the organisers are already trying to fill hundreds of vacancies at the prestigious SW19 venue.

Indeed, in previous years, applications for many of the fantastic jobs at the Wimbledon tournament have closed as early as the end of January, so you only have a few weeks left to apply.

Roles on offer at Wimbledon 2020 include: Court Attendants, Bar Staff, Baristas, Cashiers, Food Preparation Assistants, Plate Waiting, Kitchen Porters, Retail Service Staff, Chefs, Logistics, Security and some managerial positions.

Levy UK recruits for most of the vacancies at Wimbledon (and many other famous sporting events and venues). As Europe’s single biggest annual sporting catering operation, with almost 40,000 guests at any one time - and more than 450,000 throughout the two week event - they employ over 2,000 people at the tennis tournament each year.

Jon Davies, Levy UK’s hospitality and catering specialist’s Managing Director, said:

“The Championships are a truly special event in the sporting calendar and we are proud to be part of the magic that happens in SW19 every year. The key ingredient in making it so special is having amazing people working across the event, both front and back of house, to deliver exceptional, first class service to our guests”

The Operations Director for Food & Drink at Wimbledon, Charlie Cook, commented on the high esteem with which their staff are regarded, saying: “Our people are our greatest asset, I believe in choosing people who have huge potential and developing them.”

And commenting on the experience of working at the Wimbledon tennis tournament, one staff member from a previous year said: “Working at the Championships was fantastic! Working in such a fast paced and engaging environment was challenging but also incredibly rewarding. The atmosphere was always lively and the people are wonderful!”

The Wimbledon Championships 2020 start on Monday 29th June and run through until Sunday 12th July but you’ll need to be able to start work on 27th June in order to make preparation for the event run smoothly.

But, as we mentioned earlier, these jobs get snapped up quicker than a Federer ace, so you’ll need to get your act in gear in the next couple of weeks if you want to work at the prestigious event.
