Gousto, a company which makes and delivers meal kits, is to create 700 new full or part time jobs in the UK.

The recipe box firm has confirmed that it will be hiring 400 new staff at its distribution centre in the Spalding area of Lincolnshire, in addition to creating 300 London jobs at its headquarters in Hammersmith.

Gousto, founded in 2012, gives customers a choice of over 40 recipes each week and then delivers measured ingredients to their doors so they can make the meals from scratch.

After securing a £30 million cash injection from investment company Perwyn, Gousto is looking to expand its headcount by 140 per cent from its current level of around 500 to more than 1,200 over the next three years.

Some of the new roles on offer at Gousto will include positions within the company’s analytics, data science, marketing, operations, software engineering and user experience functions.

Announcing their jobs boost, the founder and Chief Executive Officer of Gousto, Timo Boldt, said: “We live in times of severe economic uncertainty and have seen a recent slowing in job creation. We are proud to be bucking this trend.”

“The 700 jobs we will create over the next three years will enable us to keep pace with rapidly changing consumer behaviours. People, couples and families still want to cook quality meals and maintain a healthy, balanced diet, but the weekly pilgrimage to the supermarket no longer works amid busy lifestyles.”
