Lidl To Create 500 New Warehouse Jobs In Bolton

German supermarket chain Lidl has finally received revised planning permission for a new logistics facility in Lancashire, a move which it says will create around 500 warehouse jobs in Bolton.

The multi-million pound 170,000 square metre Lidl Logistics North regional distribution hub will now be built in the Over Hulton area, creating hundreds of jobs for locals in the Bolton area.

Other companies already using the 250 acre Logistics North site in Bolton include Aldi, Costa Coffee, Greene King, Komatsu and Whistl.

Planning permission for the Lidl warehouse was given by Bolton Council over a year ago, but the German retailer changed their vision for the facility and submitted revised details. Town hall planners reconsidered the updated plans and finally gave the green light for the new version of the facility to go ahead last week.

A statement about the new logistics hub in Bolton said: “Lidl will be recruiting for up to 500 jobs at the facility and always endeavour to employ people from the local area.”

Lidl now employs over 20,000 people in full and part time roles across the UK and offers all of their staff a 10 per cent discount on all in-store products.
