It’s going to be a happy world as sweet firm Haribo announce plans to create dozens of new full or part time jobs in Yorkshire.

The firm, famous for products such as Starmix, Supermix, Giant Strawbs and Goldbears, is to expand production in Yorkshire, leading to around 50 new vacancies at its Castleford manufacturing facility.

The recruitment drive, which starts this month, has been geared by Haribo’s decision to use the firm’s United Kingdom factories to fulfil demand for its products in the United States.

In order to boost production at the Castleford facility, Haribo will move from their current two shift pattern to a three shift pattern early next year.

Haribo currently provides jobs for around 720 people in the UK, so the latest recruitment push will see them increase their headcount over here by around seven per cent.

The managing director for Haribo UK, Jon Hughes, described the development as ‘great news for our team, for our region and for UK manufacturing.’

“Our ambitious plans are being realised. Following the launch of our Castleford site we brought full production of Maoam to the UK for the very first time. From January 2020 we will be responsible for meeting the growing demand for HARIBO across the USA,” said Mr Hughes.

“Our manufacturing excellence and ability to deliver top quality products, both traditional treats alongside new and exciting innovations developed specifically for US consumers, will be showcased globally and this will continue to support the brand’s growth in the UK and overseas,” added the managing director.
