Wren Kitchens is to create 1,200 new full or part time jobs in Lincolnshire with a new factory at their Barton-upon-Humber headquarters.

The expansion will cost the kitchen firm £120 million but will allow them to increase their headcount at the location from around 1,500 currently to 2,700 over the coming years.

In addition, Wren Kitchens also provides a further 1,000 jobs for the region, with hundreds more staff based in Howden, Hull and Scunthorpe.

Announcing the expansion and recruitment plans for his company, Mark Pullan, the Managing Director of Wren Kitchens, said: “The new factory demonstrates our commitment to manufacturing in the UK and particularly the Humber Region. We believe that continual re-investment in our business is essential to maintaining our current growth rate and subject to receiving planning approval, the project will be funded internally.”

Welcoming the announcement of the new jobs, Hull and Humber Chamber of Commerce’s David Cooper said: “It's clearly a massive vote of confidence for the area and will bring some much needed jobs to North Lincolnshire at a time when some people will be worried about their future with other companies.”

Speaking to the BBC, a retail analyst for GlobalData, Matt Walton, put much of Wren Kitchens’ success down to their aggressive marketing strategy.

“Wren's been one of retail's big success stories over the last five years, with sales going from just over £200m in 2014 to just under £500m in 2018 - on the back of quite rapid expansion opening 26 stores across the country. It's currently the market leader within kitchens, overtaking B&Q a couple of years ago, so it has the potential to keep going,” said Mr Walton.
