The Bristol Post has reported on how an aspiring 23 year old actor, Jake Hopes, has applied for over 400 vacancies in the last two years, yet is still waiting to be offered a permanent full or part time job in Bristol.

Despite having previous work experience in both customer service roles and the retail sector, Mr Hopes’ hopes have been dashed on numerous occasions.

The aspiring actor is so desperate to fund his dream career of treading the boards by finding a permanent job in Bristol that he sending off around sixteen job applications every month.

Mr Hopes has managed to secure some temporary jobs in Bristol over the last two years but is finding it impossible to land something long term.

He has described the search for a permanent job as ‘soul-destroying’ but pledged to carry on the quest to finance his aspiration of becoming an actor.

Explaining his predicament, Mr Hopes said: “I didn't even get a job at Pizza Hut, somewhere you think hires most people. There's just so many people applying for one role, it's really tough. I need to earn money so I can fund a degree in acting. Without work I can't do that.”

“I've been to quite a few interviews but most of the time I just don't hear anything back. It's really frustrating. I spend a lot of time at home bored. I make sure I go out for walks but most of the time I don't leave the house.”

“I want to work. I really want to become a successful actor but I can't do that without money,” added Mr Hopes.
