Travelodge Offers 3,000 New Student Jobs Across The UK

Budget hotel chain Travelodge has launched an initiative to recruit 3,000 students at locations all over the United Kingdom.

The jobs are tailored to offer students the flexibility they need to fit full or part time work around their study commitments at college or university.

The recruitment drive has been devised after canvassing the opinions of over 1,500 current student employees of Travelodge.

Roles on offer at the hotel chain include reception vacancies, restaurant positions and housekeeping staff.

With hundreds of hotel vacancies to be based close to UK university campuses, these Travelodge jobs could be the perfect way to earn money and gain valuable work experience without interfering with your studies.

2,200 permanent part time roles are up for grabs - and a further 800 positions will be full time temporary jobs over the summer holidays. And, with over 500 hotels across the UK, it would be unfortunate for there not to be a suitable vacancy within commuting distance of your area.

The student recruits will have the option to take part in management training and will be assigned a ‘work buddy’ to help them learn the ropes of the hotel trade. The new recruits can also look forward to discounted rates at all Travelodge hotels in the country.

As for the potential pay packets which could be handed out, Travelodge bosses say that students could earn around £10,000 a year by working just 24 hours a week.

Like many companies in the hospitality sector, Travelodge has been having a hard time recruiting enough staff to fill its vacancies in the wake of the Brexit vote, even since offering similar flexible roles to unemployed mums and dads at the start of the year.

Announcing the recruitment drive for thousands of UK students, Travelodge’s chief executive, Peter Gowers, said: “We are preparing in earnest for post-Brexit Britain. With thousands of new jobs to fill, we need more new colleagues than ever. We see vast untapped potential in parents who want to return to work and with students who have to study harder than ever to meet the rising costs of education.”

“Our new student programme gives you flexibility during your studies and the potential to build a longer-term career after graduation; a better way to earn while you learn,” added Mr Gowers.
