Spotify To Create 300 New Jobs In London

Swedish streaming music giant Spotify is to expand its operations in the UK capital in a move which will create around 300 new jobs in London.

Spotify is to open a research and development hub near to the Strand in London and will more than double its headcount in the city once all the jobs have been filled.

The company currently has around 260 staff in London but there is room for up to 550 employees at the Adelphi Building R&D hub.

Some of the roles will be suitable for university leavers with vacancies to include graduate engineering positions, design staff and many other opportunities.

Explaining why his firm was expanding in the UK capital, Tom Connaughton, the managing director for Spotify UK, said: “The UK is famous all over the world for the musical talent that originates here and the strength of the music industry here. As one of Spotify’s biggest markets, it makes perfect sense to expand our team here, and to tap into the large and diverse talent pool to be found in London.”

Sadiq Khan, Mayor of London, welcomed the announcement, saying: “London is the best place in Europe for tech companies to find a wealth of diverse talent. Spotify’s expansion is a further sign that London is open to ground-breaking technology.”
