A new branch of McDonald’s is to open in Saltash today (Thursday 21st March 2019), creating almost 90 new full or part time jobs in Cornwall.

The new burger restaurant will be opened at Saltash’s Carkeel Gateway by the three-time Olympian Tonia Couch and there will be 88 vacancies up for grabs.

Full and part time positions on offer will include Crew Member roles which would give students some great work experience skills to furnish their CV.

The new Cornish McDonald’s will be run by serial franchisee David Wynne who himself started out as a crew member with the fast food chain 35 years ago before progressing into area management.

16 years ago, Mr Wynne became a franchisee for the restaurant chain and now boasts eight McDonald’s in Cornwall and a further five in Plymouth.

Commenting on his latest franchise venture for McDonald’s, Mr Wynne said: “I’m thrilled to be opening a new restaurant in Saltash. I look forward to meeting our local customers and I am pleased to be expanding in Cornwall.”

The Saltash outlet of McDonald’s will feature a range of digital facilities such as mobile phone charging points, free-to-use tablets and self-service kiosks.

“I’m pleased to be able to offer more choice as to how people enjoy their McDonald’s experience with this new digital restaurant,” added the franchisee.
