Marks & Spencer have 20,000 Christmas jobs on offer for 2018, with some roles already filled but many more still up for grabs.

The M&S website currently has over 1,000 Christmas vacancies on offer but thousands more are to be advertised over the coming weeks, with the retailer expecting a very busy festive period of trading.

M&S dub their temporary Xmas staff as ‘Moment Makers’ and hundreds of opportunities are on offer on high streets all over the United Kingdom before the end of December and into the New Year.

Although these are nominally seasonal positions, around 2,000 people who joined M&S in the run up to Christmas 2017 went on into a permanent role with the retail chain after New Year. And, of the 1,000 Xmas vacancies currently listed for this year on the Marks & Spencer, around 1 in 10 are permanent positions.

As well as earning extra money before the Christmas holidays, students could also save money too by applying for these M&S Xmas jobs since all staff get 20 per cent discount in stores from the day they start working for the company.

Commenting on the festive recruitment drive for thousands of workers across the UK, the retail, operations & property director for Marks & Spencer, Sacha Berendji, said: “Customers come to us at Christmas for trusted quality and extra special service, whether they’re collecting the turkey they ordered online, purchasing Christmas Eve PJs for the kids or buying a new dress for the office party.”

“We want to offer these customers the very best experience. That’s why we’re recruiting 20,000 new team members. Every year we value the additional colleagues we recruit and it’s great a number stay with us.”

Glasgow is one place set to benefit from a raft of Marks & Spencer Christmas jobs, with around 240 vacancies available in the Scottish city.

Commenting on those positions, the Head of Region for Scotland West at Marks & Spencer, David Bates, said: “Making every moment special for our customers in Glasgow is our mission and it’s never more important than at Christmas time.”

“Every year we value the additional colleagues who help us deliver even better service for the local community. Whilst retail experience is helpful, what we’re really after are colleagues who are ready to roll their sleeves up and be part of a hard-working team; ‘moment makers’ for our customers,” added Mr Bates.
