Yotel is to open their second hotel in Scotland in a move which will see the chain create 100 new full or part time jobs in Glasgow.

After announcing last year that a new Yotel would open in Edinburgh at the beginning of 2019, the chain now has plans to follow up with a new property in Glasgow city centre.

After opening the Edinburgh hotel in the first quarter of 2019, Yotel will close the year by launching the Glasgow hotel in the last quarter of the year.

The Glasgow Yotel will be located near to the city’s Central Station and will feature more than 250 rooms. Once open it will create dozens of hotel jobs such as receptionists, cleaners, waiters and bar staff.

Commenting on their second hotel in Scotland, chief executive of Yotel, Hubert Viriot, said: “Glasgow is a forward-looking city that has real vibrancy and energy, bolstered by careful planning and investment initiatives. The city is building on its excellent infrastructure and is shaping up to be a world-class business destination.”

“These were all important characteristics that helped us choose Glasgow as our next UK location and we're excited to be part of the positive momentum that is driving growth in the city,” added Mr Viriot.

Yotel already has two London hotels at Gatwick and Heathrow airport and will add a further one in the capital later this year. The company also has an expanding presence in the USA, France, Amsterdam and Singapore. It is also set to open a new hotel in Dubai later in 2018.
