Facebook To Create Up To 3,700 More Jobs In London

Facebook is to create up to 3,700 more jobs in London as it looks to take on extra office space in the UK’s capital city.

By the end of 2018, Facebook has already pledged that it will have 2,300 staff working at its current offices in Rathbone Place near London’s Oxford Street.

However, it also plans to double its existing office space by taking on new property in King’s Cross, giving the tech firm room to potentially add thousands more employees in London over the coming years.

Commenting on their continuing recruitment plans for the UK’s capital, Facebook’s Managing Director for Northern Europe, Steve Hatch, said: “The United Kingdom is one of the best places in the world to be a technology company and we’re investing here for the long term. Many of Facebook’s most significant global products, from Workplace to social VR applications for Oculus, were developed right here in London, now our biggest engineering base outside the United States.”

“By the end of the year we’ll employ more than 2,300 people in the UK and every day we’re helping over four million UK businesses to grow. Today’s news reflects our commitment to the UK,” added Mr Hatch.

Sadiq Khan, Mayor of London, reacted to the announcement from Facebook, saying: “This investment is great news for the capital. We welcome Facebook’s long-term commitment, which is further evidence that London is open for business and a world-leading destination for major tech companies.”

Jeremy Wright, the Secretary of State for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport, also commented: “The UK is the top destination for tech investment in Europe. We have the talent, capital and business environment to help global companies thrive alongside our rich landscape of start-ups and scale-ups.”

If you’d love to live and work in London after you leave university, then we can help you find great graduate jobs in the tech sector. Of course, there’s the giants like Facebook and Google who now operate in London, but there are also loads of smaller tech companies which take on multiple graduates in the capital.
