German budget supermarket retailer Aldi is creating more than 500 new full and part time jobs in Kent with two new stores and a warehouse facility.

The majority of the new Kent jobs will be at a £50 million 14-acre warehouse facility in Queenborough, with around 400 positions up for grabs before the distribution centre opens next year.

Jobs on offer at the warehouse will include logistics roles, commercial teams, stock and purchasing assistants, warehouse operatives and managerial positions.

A further 100 vacancies will be divided between two new Aldi stores at Ashford in June and at Tonbridge later this month.

Further vacancies are being advertised at existing Aldi supermarkets in Margate, Sittingbourne and Whitstable.

Jobs on offer include Store Assistant roles and Assistant Manager positions. There are also a handful of Aldi Store Apprenticeships in the county too.

Of their Store Assistant roles, the Aldi job ad says:

“Our Store Assistants are the backbone of our business really. Where would our customers be without their friendly smiles and warm, helpful attitude? You’ll be a bundle of enthusiasm and positivity. Someone who absolutely loves rolling their sleeves up to keep the store running as efficiently as possible.”

“A queue of customers at the till? You’ll jump on a different till and halve their waiting time. A pallet of bananas waiting in the stockroom? You’ll put them out in the store, rather than wait for someone else to do it. You’re thoughtful, flexible and full of initiative,” continues the job description.

Aldi now has over 700 supermarkets around the UK and Ireland but still has plans to expand to more areas of the country. They forecast that they will reach the milestone of 1,000 UK stores by the end of 2022.
