McDonald’s To Create 1,000 New Management Jobs In The UK

Burger chain McDonald’s says it is to create 1,000 new management jobs throughout the United Kingdom over the next few months.

After what McDonald’s describes as an ‘excellent’ start to 2018, the company needs new managers to help them see through changes including new self-order screen technology, kitchen refurbishments and new branch openings.

McDonald's UK’s chief executive officer, Paul Pomroy, said: “We have enjoyed an excellent start to 2018, thanks to ongoing investment in our restaurant experience and our people, delivering 48 consecutive quarters of sales and guest count growth.”

Of the people who work for McDonald’s, Mr Pomroy added: “We survey them twice a year, and have recently increased the starting pay rate, giving the biggest increase to younger workers.”

“Our jobs are designed for people of all ages and life stages, from those wanting a career to students, parents and even grandparents. And at a time when many businesses are cutting back, we are continuing to invest and create new opportunities. The UK business has seen an incredible 12 years of consecutive growth; in the last 18 months we have created over 5000 jobs, and over the next six months we will need another 1,000 restaurant managers; many of whom will progress from within our business.”

McDonald’s now employs over 85,000 people in full and part time roles across the length and breadth of the UK. Worldwide, the famous fast food chain provides jobs for over one million members of staff.
