Energy firm Northern Gas and Power (NGP) is to create 150 new full or part time jobs in Hartlepool - and, get this, all of their staff get the whole of December off work!

We’ve seen some great perks of work over the years, but this company certainly takes some beating when it come to looking after their employees in think-outside-the-box ways. The December lay off for staff is in addition to their normal full holiday entitlement and one current employee described working for Northern Gas and Power ‘a life-changing thing’ for successful workers.

Other side benefits that staff of Northern Gas and Power have been treated to by their bosses include trips abroad to Magaluf in Spain, Pizza Fridays, early finishes and access to personal life coaches.

NGP already have a variety of North East bases in Gateshead but are all set to open new offices in Hartlepool in the next few weeks, creating dozens more North East vacancies ranging from energy consultants to Personal Assistants and sales teams.

Around the world, NGP also has offices in Dublin, Paris, Texas and Delhi, already employing around 300 staff, and provides full training to all of their new employees.

The new Hartlepool staff members will increase the company’s headcount by a further 50 per cent, after starting out with a team of just six people in South Shields in 2015.

Giving some details about the sales jobs on offer in Hartlepool, Járlath Da Silva-Cooke, Marketing Executive at Northern Gas and Power, said: “We are looking to get people into sales roles, we will get them trained up to be energy consultants. We are looking for experience, but if not we will train people. Ultimately, we want people that are excited, who want to make money and do well.”

Offering a balanced but honest opinion of the working culture and perks at NGP, Mr Da Silva-Cooke added: “Sales can be stressful. We are one of the only firms in the world to offer life-coaching on a one to one basis for our staff. We take the year’s targets, as soon as that’s hit in November, we empty the buildings!”

The Marketing Executive also revealed that no managers start off in senior roles at NGP, with every employee said to cut their teeth at the firm by working ‘on the phones.’ It is also said that Fokhrul Islam, the founder of Northern Gas and Power knows the names of all staff members at the energy company.
