Kings Dock Development To Create 1,500 New Liverpool Jobs

A development at Kings Dock could create up to 1,500 full or jobs in Liverpool if planning permission is granted for the project.

The development plans include a new four-floor call centre office at Monarch’s Quay along with a hotel, apartments, bowling alley and a 2,000 seater ice rink at Kings Dock.

Birkenhead-based firm The Contact Company, whose clients include River Island and Penguin Fashion, wants to fill the Monarch’s Quay offices and says that it will create around 1,500 call centre jobs at the Liverpool site.

Commenting on the development plans, The Contact Company’s chief executive, Asif Hamid, said: “Our new office will be a high quality, landmark building and will mean a huge range of opportunities for employment and training. We remain committed to our Wirral operation but this development will enable us to significantly expand our business and compete for global customer care contracts.”

Developers YPG say that temporary jobs would also be created in the construction phase in addition to the call centre positions.

Backing the development, Liverpool’s ‘Metro Mayor’ Steve Rotheram said: “The Contact Company is one of the city region’s more recent success stories. I’m delighted that it has chosen to invest in our area again with this exciting project.”

Joe Anderson, Mayor of Liverpool, added: “This is brilliant news for Liverpool and could ultimately lead to the creation of a new riverside destination, boosting our visitor economy and creating jobs for local people.”
