Jet2 To Create 1,800 Airport Jobs In The UK

Airline company Jet2 has announced a recruitment drive which will see the firm create almost 1,800 airport jobs in the UK.

The company is recruiting for a range of roles including cabin crew positions, ground operations teams and pilots.

Most of the vacancies will be for cabin crew, with 900 jobs on offer. There will also be 700 ground operations vacancies at various airports and Jet2 are looking for 180 new pilots, making for at least 1,780 new positions with the UK’s third biggest airline company.

So far we know that 400 of the jobs will be based at Manchester Airport, 100 vacancies will be at Birmingham Airport and a further 200 positions will be split between Glasgow Airport and Edinburgh Airport.

Commenting on the jobs in the Scottish capital, Lib Dem MSP for Edinburgh Western, Alex Cole-Hamilton,: “The announcement from Jet2 is great news for the local economy and is symptomatic of continued positive growth for the airport. It’s clear that Edinburgh remains a world leading destination.”

And a spokesperson for Edinburgh Airport added: “We are Scotland’s busiest airport and our drive to provide passengers with more options and destinations is a key element to that. That greater choice is achieved by working with airlines like Jet2.com who can see the benefits that Edinburgh Airport has. This announcement is great news for people looking for an opportunity to get into work or move into the aviation and travel industry.”

Chief Executive Officer for both Jet2.com and Jet2holidays, Steve Heapy, said: “It has been an exciting year for Jet2.com and Jet2holidays, and we are delighted to be creating so many opportunities to join our award-winning team.”

“If you care passionately about looking after customers, we would love to see you at one of our upcoming roadshows and we look forward to welcoming you on board,” added Mr Heapy.

Jet2 will host a series of ‘roadshows’ to recruit for the 1,780 new jobs from the end of August and throughout September. You can find details of those recruitment events in Jet2’s press release about their new airport vacancies.
