Amazon UK is to create 1,000 new full or part time jobs in Bristol with the opening of a huge fulfilment centre in the South West city.

The new facility will be on the edge of Bristol at Severn Beach and should be completed some time in 2018.

A mix of roles will be on offer at new Bristol fulfilment centre with Amazon trying to fill positions for operations staff, technology jobs, engineering roles, Human Resources positions and general warehouse roles.

Commenting on the new Bristol facility, director of customer fulfilment for Amazon UK, Stefano Perego, said: “We are very excited to expand our network into Bristol, which will in total create more than 1,000 new permanent roles with competitive wages and comprehensive benefits starting on day one.”

“There are several factors we consider when deciding on where to place a new fulfilment centre, and Bristol offers fantastic infrastructure and talented local people who we look forward to joining the Amazon team,” added Mr Perego.

Welcoming the announcement, Jack Lopresti, MP for Filton and Bradley Stoke, said, “This will bring more jobs to our area and offer careers with training opportunities, helping the local economy to grow. An international outward-looking company like Amazon will help us maximise the fantastic opportunities for our region after Brexit.”

Amazon already has 13 fulfilment centres across the United Kingdom and will open three more in Doncaster, Tilbury and Warrington before the end of the year. The Bristol facility will become the retail giant’s 17 fulfilment centre in the UK when it opens next year.

The company already employs over 24,000 people in full and part time jobs across the UK so will reach the quarter of a century mark when it finishes recruiting for the Bristol jobs in 2018.
