Sainsbury’s To Create 150 Supermarket Jobs In Cambridge

A new Sainsbury’s is set to create 150 supermarket jobs in Cambridge when it opens in September.

The new superstore is being built in north west Cambridge at the city’s new community in Eddington.

The 1,950 square metre Sainsbury’s will open on 6th September and most of the 150 full or part time jobs have been earmarked for local people.

Eddington is a new community which will feature 1,200 homes, 350 rooms for post-grads, a primary school, a doctor’s surgery, a nursery and a hotel.

Project Manager for the Eddington Sainsbury’s, Chris Armishaw, said: “We're delighted to be part of Eddington, and are pleased that we can now begin preparing the store for customers.”

“The new shop will play an active role in the new community, creating 150 local jobs and supporting a locally nominated charity. We are looking forward to welcoming our new colleagues and customers once the store is open,” added Mr Armishaw.

Store Manager for the new Sainsbury’s, Matt Cullen, said: “This is an extremely exciting opportunity for anyone who would like to work for Sainsbury’s in a brand new store. Our vacancies are online, and there are all sorts of roles available throughout the store. I’m really looking forward to hearing from people.”
