Promotional Merchandise Firm mda To Create Almost 250 Wigan Jobs

mda, a promotional merchandise specialist, has announced plans to create almost two hundred and fifty new jobs in Wigan.

The company is set to open a new logistics and distribution centre in the Ashton-in-Makerfield area of Wigan in a move which will create dozens of permanent jobs and temporary roles in the north west town.

At least 90 permanent full and part time jobs will be created in this part of Wigan by mda before the end of 2020 now that planning permission has been secured for a 6,500 square metre warehouse in the Lancashire town. A further 150 temporary jobs are forecast to be created during peak seasons for the business on a regular basis.

Building work is now being carried out at the Wigan site and mda expects the new facility to be ready for action in the first few months of 2018.

The new distribution hub will be mda’s fifth ‘fulfilment centre’ following on from two in Blackburn and one each in Leicester and Rugby.

Deputy leader of Wigan Council, David Molyneux, said: “We are delighted that a business of the calibre of mda has chosen Wigan borough as the location for their new logistics centre.”

“This is a business that has a proven track-record of success and we are confident that their move into Ashton-in-Makerfield will be a fruitful and successful one for the company,” added Councillor Molyneux.
