Bluestone National Park Resort To Create 300 Tourism Jobs In South Wales

The luxury Bluestone National Park Resort in Pembrokeshire is to create a further 300 tourism jobs in South Wales.

Investments and loans totalling £10 million have been secured to expand facilities at Bluestone Park, in a move which will create hundreds of jobs in the tourism sector over the course of the next three years.

Once the new facilities are in place, expected to be before the end of 2020, a total of around 1,000 staff will work through the whole year at the Bluestone National Park Resort.

Jobs up for grabs at Bluestone will include extra roles in catering, hospitality, leisure, admin and housekeeping.

Plans have also been announced which will see staff and directors benefit from almost one third of shareholdings transferring from investors to staff of Bluestone in the form of an Employee Benefit Trust (EBT).

Putting staff at the forefront of Bluestone’s success, William McNamara OBE, Chief Executive, said: “Our original vision for Bluestone, which began some two decades ago, has been realised over the past three years. Staff are the heart of the customer experience at Bluestone and therefore our success as a business overall, so I’m delighted that our plans for an Employee Benefit Trust have become a reality.”

“The EBT will reward staff for their incredible loyalty and commitment and ensure they have a new opportunity to be recognised for the outstanding job they do for our business. We now have our sights firmly set on the future and our staff will continue to play a key part of this vision,” added Mr McNamara.

Investor Andrew Probert said: “We are delighted by the success of Bluestone over the last few years and that is testament to the hard work and vision of its management and employees. I am pleased that this can be recognised through the new ownership structure.”

“We are excited to be continuing to be part of the future of Bluestone and believe that it has established a fantastic reputation in the market which sets it up for future success,” added Mr Probert.

Occupancy rates at Bluestone are now averaging 95 per cent and over 130,000 guests visit the National Park each year. Over the past three years, turnover at Bluestone has surged to £22 million from £14 million, an increase of more than 50 per cent.
